Faurecia has opened a new just-in-time assembly plant in Brussels, Belgium, directly inside Audi’s production park. Spanning more than 9,000 square metres, the site started production in January: it delivers front and rear bumpers as well as front-end modules for the Audi S1 and S1 Sportback.
A German Faurecia plant handles injection and painting of the bumpers and front-end module injection; the components are then sent on to Brussels for assembly and delivery.
Founded in 1997, Faurecia today is backed by an R&D and production network with sites in 34 countries. The supplier has four business areas: automotive seating, interior systems, automotive exteriors and emissions control technologies.
Asia is now a priority region for Faurecia. The Group has been operating in China for over 15 years and has also begun forging strategic alliances with Chinese automakers such as Geely (which now owns Volvo), the Xuyang Group and Chang’An. Faurecia opened three new plants in 2013. It now draws on a network of 36 production sites in the country and also has state-of-the-art Tech Centers in Minbei and Shanghai, home to its full range of R&D expertise, covering everything from initial CAD to prototype testing.
In South Korea, Faurecia has three Emissions Control Technologies sites and in Thailand has also recently introduced Faurecia Interior Systems.
In India, the company continues to expand its industrial base for three Business Groups: Emissions Control Technologies, Interior Systems and Automotive Seating. This campaign is now backed by the Pune Tech Center, which provides the full range of R&D expertise needed to develop local and international programs.
