Faurecia and Stellantis are collaborating to equip their new range of 'zero emission' commercial vehicles with hydrogen storage systems, as well as a fuel cell system supplied by Symbio, a joint venture between Faurecia and Michelin.
Faurecia will develop, supply and assemble hydrogen storage systems from its global centre of expertise in Bavans, France. With three approved high pressure tanks at 700 bar carrying a total of 120 litres of hydrogen per vehicle, Stellantis commercial vehicles will have a zero emission range of over 400 kilometres.
Faurecia says it worked with Stellantis to optimise the design of the system as well as its integration to offer the best weight / performance ratio on the market.
In addition and based on more than 10 years of experience, Symbio has designed and developed for Stellantis a powerful fuel cell system (45kW gross), compact and reliable. These systems will be produced in France at Symbio's plant based in Venissieux and from 2023 at its new plant in St Fons.
Controlling 75% of the fuel cell value chain, Faurecia says it is well placed to support the growing demand for zero-emission hydrogen mobility solutions around the world.
