Daimler and Peking University, the first modern university in China and one of the country’s most prestigious, commemorated 20 years of the Daimler Scholarship Program. Since its establishment, the program has annually selected 24 students from the freshman class to receive scholarship – 12 of these on the basis of merit, and the other 12 in view of financial hardship. To date, over 400 students participated in the program that backs students with a four-year-scholarship.

Peking University was founded as the first state institution of higher education in China in the 19th century, and remains a renowned institution after more than a century of history. Both Daimler and Peking University share a commitment to the long-term, sustainable growth in and with China, and both recognize that education is the key to success. Support of educational programs to foster talents is thus at the core of Daimler’s corporate philosophy.
In China – like elsewhere – Daimler has a number of dedicated programs to ensure a pipeline to supply its growing business with the talent and expertise necessary.
For younger people the company moves in China on various fronts. Here are two examples: One is vocational training, where Daimler has cooperated with local partners to bring the proven German dual-educational system to China, adjusted for local conditions. The second is Daimler’s international Trainee program CAReer, aimed at attracting and developing highly qualified graduates with advanced degrees and young professionals in the company. And there are many more dedicated development programs, both for young talents and experts throughout all management levels, that all have one thing in common: they are custom-made for the respective target group to strengthen and develop their individual talent and know-how to best possible.
