US car manufacturer General Motors has presented awards to the Brose plants in Ostrava (Czech Republic), Würzburg (Germany), Santa Margarida (Spain) and Quéretaro-Benito Juárez (Mexico) for the excellent quality standards they achieved in 2013/2014.

Adolfo Varillas, general manager, Brose Santa Margarida, Alexander Penn, Quality Management Representative HVAC Blowers Brose Würzburg, and Roman Strakos, Operations Director Latch Assembly in Ostrava, received the Supplier Quality Excellence Award at the awards ceremony for European suppliers at the Opel site in Rüsselsheim at the end of September.

“We know that maintaining a focus on the details to achieve perfection each day is not an easy task, So much so that only a fraction of our suppliers have earned this special recognition,” said Sheri Hickok, executive director, Global Supplier Quality General Motors, paying tribute to the achievements of the winning companies. “You are a critical part of the GM team, helping ensure the customer is delighted with their product purchase and we want to recognize and thank you for that.”

Mechatronics specialist Brose strives to deliver the same high quality at all its locations and this honor underscores its success. “We will continue to scrutinize our products and processes and to look for potential for improvement to help our customers achieve their objectives,” says  Bernd Schieweck, Vice President Quality Brose Group. “The GM award is an incentive for us to keep up our performance and to improve still further.”

The Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Mexico – four countries, one quality standard

At its Czech plant in Ostrava, Brose produces liftgate latches for the Opel sites in Bochum and Gliwice (Poland). The Brose plant in Würzburg supplies components for HVAC blowers to GM plants in Argentina and Brazil. Brose’s Spanish plant has been supplying these GM sites with window regulators for the past two years, with a failure rate of 0 ppm. The window regulators for the North American GM sites in Oshawa (Canada), Lansing and Fairfax (USA) are produced in Mexico. The Brose Group has been a GM partner for more than 40 years, supplying parts for the US car manufacturer’s Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and Opel/Vauxhall brands.
