Volkswagen Group has invested 1.2 billion euros (Rs 9,414 crore) to transform Zwickau plant with high levels of automation and digitalisation in an effort to target high-volume production.

The Zwickau plant will produce 100,000 electric models next year and up to 330,000 EVs from 2021, making it the largest and most efficient EV factory in Europe.
Dr Herbert Diess, “The future belongs to the electric car and with the ID.3, we aim to offer a high value proposition to its owners without having to compromise in any form.”
The ID.3 is based on VW’s all-electric MEB platform. The base version is priced under 30,000 euros (Rs 23.53 lakh) in Germany. It will be launched in markets across Europe in mid-2020.
