3M has announced an agreement with Alcohol Monitoring Systems, Inc, (AMS) to market the company’s SCRAM Remote Breath alcohol testing device in the US. Featuring automated facial recognition and GPS location tracking, the handheld device provides corrections and law enforcement officers overseeing alcohol monitoring programs with a portable, wireless breath alcohol testing option.
“Our corrections and law enforcement customers were asking for a portable breath alcohol testing solution from 3M,” said Angela Dreis, president, 3M Electronic Monitoring US. “We believe the SCRAM device is the best on the market today, and a great addition to our portfolio of industry-leading electronic monitoring solutions.”
Notable features of the SCRAM remote alcohol breath testing device include:
- Automated facial recognition software helps confirm whether the correct individual is taking the test
- Device-initiated testing automatically prompts users to take scheduled, random, and on-demand tests, helping reduce missed tests
- Ability to store and forward up to 48,000 test results, even when outside of cellular coverage area
- GPS location information capture for all missed and completed tests provides valuable data for the monitoring agency.
