The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) organised the Auto Ancillary Show 2012 between October 18-21 at the Auto Cluster Exhibition Complex, PCMC, Pune.
Supported by the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, this first of its kind event saw the participation from 51 establishments which included various automotive component manufacturers, the state governments of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and other organisations.
According to ACMA, the turnover of the Indian automotive ancillary industry stands at $39.9 billion during 2010-11, which is estimated to grow up to $66.3 billion and $113 billion by 2015-16 and 2020-21 respectively.
The industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11 percent during 2011-21. Segment-wise, engine, driveline and steering aggregates comprise 50 percent of the comprehensive product range followed by the body, chassis, suspension, braking and electrical parts.
For the automotive manufacturers and the ancillary cluster, Pune holds a vital position in the western zone which also includes Gujarat which has seen many big names announce investments over the past two years.
“Our objective was to bring the automotive ancillary cluster on an equal platform with the OEMs, government departments, the financial institutions and other relevant parties to facilitate interaction, initiate thought processes, scope of possible tie-ups and partnerships, technology displays and networking for the benefit of all the participants,” explained D K Nangia, regional manager, ITPO.
“Considering that we could manage to co-organise an event of this nature in just two-and-a-half months, the scale of participants and over 2,500 visitors which were OEMs, vendor development and R&D officials, policy makers, exporters and importers during four days, it was a good show. One of the participants managed over 175 enquiries during the event,” said Vinayak Inamdar, associate director, MCCIA.
The organisers are keen to hold the Auto Ancillary Show every year and hope to enhance the kind of interest shown as well as number of participants in future editions.
