Riding into the top 10 best-selling scooters in the overall Indian scooter market for the month of July 2015 are India Yamaha Motor’s 113cc Fascino and TVS Motor Company’s 110cc Scooty Zest 110.
Yamaha, which has found instant success with its latest scooter model Fascino, launched it on May 7, 2015. The scooter model borrows the air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder, 113cc engine from the Ray model which is also in the top 10 best-selling scooters for July 2015.
The Yamaha Fascino, which comes with a price tag of Rs 52,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), has sealed the eighth position in the Top 10 list by selling a total of 10,594 units in July’15. The Yamaha Ray, on the other hand, ranked ninth after it raked total monthly sales of 10,004 units last month. The Yamaha Ray comes for Rs 47,805 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Grabbing the 10th position in the list for the last month is TVS Motor Co’s Scooty Zest 110, which is powered by the company’s popular fuel efficient single-cylinder, 109.7cc engine that also powers another best-seller from the TVS stable – the Jupiter.
The Scooty Zest 110, which was not in the top 10 best-selling scooters list for the months of May (6,488 units) and June 2015 (8,228 units), sold a total of 8,726 units in July 2015. The TVS Scooty Zest 110 comes for Rs 44,878 units (ex-showroom, Delhi).
It’s no surprise that Honda Activa (all variants put together) tops the list with a solid monthly sales of 225,704 units in July 2015, up by 17.63 percent YoY (July 2014: 191,883). The Activa scooter models come with a starting price of Rs 46,213 (Activa-i, ex-showroom, Delhi).
While the TVS Jupiter sits at the number two slot with sales of 43,617 units, Hero MotoCorp’s 109cc Maestro scooter model, at number three position, sold 27,406 units during July’15. TVS Jupiter’s pricing starts from Rs 47,989 (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, Hero’s Maestro model costs close to Rs 49,000 (on-road, Delhi).
The mid-four positions are occupied by 109.2cc Honda Dio, 124cc Suzuki Access, 102cc Hero Pleasure and the 109.2cc Honda Aviator, in that order. These four models have scored sales of 22,817 units; 20,314 units; 17,745 units and 10,716 units respectively in July 2015.
The Honda Dio, Suzuki Access, and Honda Aviator come for Rs 47,887 (ex-showroom, Delhi); Rs 56,497 units (on-road, Delhi) and Rs 50,863 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
