TVS exports 777,622 two-wheelers in April-December, enters Morocco
TVS Motor Co has shipped 777,622 motorcycles, scooters and mopeds to overseas markets in the first nine months of FY2025, registering 19% YoY growth. Morocco is the newest strategic growth market which is part of its export-growth gameplan, which has seen it enter new markets like Vietnam, France and Italy in the past six months.
TVS Motor Co has witnessed a good market performance both in the domestic and export markets for its two-wheelers. As per the latest SIAM industry data for April-December 2024, the Chennai-based scooter, bike and moped major dispatched a total of 26,51,671 two-wheelers in India (up 12% YoY) and exported 777,622 units (up 19% YoY).
This performance gives TVS a domestic market share of 17.63% of the 15 million two-wheelers sold in India in the past nine months, and a 25% share of the export market’s total sales of 3 million units. The company, which is the longstanding No. 2 two-wheeler exporter after Bajaj Auto, had exported 887,774 units in FY2024. This means after the first nine months of FY2025, TVS with 777,622 units has already achieved 8% of last fiscal’s exports. TVS’ best-ever fiscal for two-wheeler exports was FY2022 when it had shipped over a million units – 10,90,139 units – overseas.
TVS’ exports of 777,622 units in April-December 2024 comprise 700,923 motorcycles (up 25%), 71,425 scooters (down 22%) and 5,274 mopeds (up 218%).
TVS’ exports in the current fiscal comprise 700,923 motorcycles (up 25%), 71,425 scooters (down 22%) and a 218% jump in moped shipments to 5,274 units. The scooter exports include 4,959 units of the iQube e-scooter as well as the electric CE 02 scooter it produces for BMW Motorrad.
In the motorcycle segment, the 100-110cc category (Radeon, Sport,Star City) exports were 1,99,943 units, up 58% YoY. In the 125cc bike segment, combined exports of the Raider and Star City at 405,577 units were up 15% YoY. Apache series (150-200cc) exports at 79,563 units rose 21% YoY while the Ronin at 3,324 units saw 76% growth on a low year-ago base. Exports of the G310 series for BMW Motorrad and the RR 310 at 35,401 units were flat – up 1% year on year.
Interestingly, the humble moped – the product at the bottom of the motorised two-wheeler pyramid – clocked exports of 5,274 units, up 218% YoY (April-December 2023: 1,656 units).
On January 16, TVS announced its entry into the Moroccan markeat with the TVS Ntorq 125, Raider 125 and Apache 160 and 200.
TVS expands its export footprint in Africa . . . enters Morocco
TVS Motor Co, which currently sells its two-wheelers in over 80 countries in key markets across Asia, Africa and Latin America, has announced its market entry into Morocco and expanded its footprint in Africa which is one of its key global markets.
In partnership with its distribution partner Hindi Motors, the company has introduced the Ntorq 125 performance scooter, Raider 125 commuter bike and the Apache 160 and 200 sports motorcycles in Morocco. TVS will leverage the service and distribution network of MotorSports Maroc, which uses the retail banner of Hindi Motors for its operations in Morocco.

Strategic expansion into new markets over the past year
In the past year, the company has strategically entered new markets like Nepal, Vietnam, France and Italy. And it has also begun exporting the made-in-Hosur BMW CE 02 electric scooter as well as its own iQube electric scooter. In the last nine months, TVS’ EV exports are 4,959 units comprising the BMW CE 02 and the TVS iQube (to ASEAN and Asian markets).
On October 17, TVS launched the five-geared HLX 125 commuter motorcycle in Kenya. Exported since 2014, the TVS HLX has seen strong buying in rural and urban regions across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and LATAM.
