SUV and car wholesales slip in July as OEMs rationalise high inventory levels

Combined wholesales of seven passenger vehicle manufacturers at 311,553 units were down 1% YoY in July, with Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Honda registering declines. With industry inventory levels having hit a record high of 62 to 67 days in end-June, it’s likely the reduced dispatches to showrooms are aimed at rationalising inventory ahead of the festival season.
