September retail sales lowest in 9 months and down 9%, OEMs target festive October to revive demand

While Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam failed to ignite demand, a combination of growth-impacting factors including heavy monsoon, weak consumer sentiment and purchase decisions deferred for the festive season drag sales down to 1.72 million units. While passenger vehicle demand fell by 18%, two-wheeler sales were down 9% and CVs by 10 percent.
