Kia Syros sells 10,971 units in two months, contributes 22% to Kia India sales

The recently launched Kia Syros compact SUV has sold close to 11,000 units in the past two months. As per the company’s wholesales numbers, a total of 5,425 units were dispatched to dealers across India in February 2025, adding to the 5,546 units in January. This makes the Syros the third best-selling Kia model in February, after the Sonet compact SUV (7,598 units), Seltos midsize SUV (6,446 units) and ahead of the Carens MPV (5,318 units).

At 10,971 units, the Syros is also the third best-selling model for combined January-February wholesales. While the Sonet tops with 14,792 units (29% share of Kia sales) followed by the Seltos (12,916 units, 26% share), the Syros has contributed 22% to overall wholesales in the past two months. It is 131 units ahead of the Carens MPV (10,840 units, 22% share).

Kia India’s wholesales in February were 25,026 units, up 24% YoY (February 2024: 20,200 units), which takes its cumulative 11-month total to 229,682 units, up 2.42% YoY (April 2023-February 2024: 224,234 units).

At 5,425 units, the Syros contributed 22% to Kia India’s February sales. For the January-February period, the Syros has a similar 22% share of the company’s wholesales of 50,051 vehicles.

Kia India expects the sub-four-metre Kia Syros, which is part of the hotly contested compact SUV market includes the Tata Punch and Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Fronx, Hyundai Venue and Exter, Mahindra 3XO, as well as the just launched Skoda Kylaq, to give it a fresh charge and also help grow its UV share in India.

Following the opening of bookings on January 3, 2025 and the subsequent product launch on February 1 through till the third week of February, the Kia Syros had received 20,163 bookings. According to the company, 46% of buyers have chosen the top variants.

Built on a reinforced small car platform, Kia’s new compact SUV goes big on interior space. Can that deliver Kia the winning hand in an ultra-competitive marketplace?

Positioned above the Sonet and below the Seltos midsize SUV, the five-seater Kia Syros is targeted at families and, according to Kia India, has been designed and engineered following in-depth analysis of local market trends to ensure that it precisely meets the needs of Indian consumers.

The safety package on the Kia Syros includes smart cruise control, front collision warning, and a 360-degree camera system. High on active safety levels, the Kia Syros also bristles with the latest technology. With Kia Connect 2.0, it provides first-in-segment Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, automatically updating 22 controllers to ensure the vehicle is always equipped with the latest software and features. The Syros also gets a best-in-class 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display panel, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats. It also features first-in-segment rear seat recline, slide, and ventilation.

The Kia Syros is sold in four standard trim levels and two option trims – HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, and HTX+, HTX+(O) – paired with manual and automatic transmissions. Kia’s newest SUV for India has two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol which develops maximum power of 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel with 116hp and 250 Nm of torque.
