Kia India dispatches 5,546 Syros compact SUVs to dealers in January

The Syros, Kia India’s second compact SUV after the Sonet, has registered wholesales of 5,546 units in January 2025, the first month that it has gone on sale after its unveiling in December 2024 and followed by the official launch on February 1, 2025. The January numbers are essentially wholesales, or factory dispatches to Kia dealers across the country.

Kia India expects the sub-four-metre Kia Syros, which is part of the hotly contested compact SUV market includes the Tata Punch and Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Fronx, Hyundai Venue and Exter, Mahindra 3XO, as well as the just launched Skoda Kylaq, to give it a fresh charge and also help grow its UV share in India.

Following the opening of bookings on January 3, 2025, the Kia Syros received 10,258 pre-orders till January 16, a number which would have increased till the compact SUV’s pricing announcement and launch on February 1.

Dispatches of the five-seater Syros SUV were the third highest for Kia India in January 2025 after the Sonet and Seltos.

As per the wholesales data released today by apex industry body SIAM, with 5,546 units, the five-seater Syros SUV is the third highest selling model for Kia India in January 2025 after the Sonet (7,194 units), Seltos (6,470 units) and 24 units more than the Carens MPV (5,522 units). As per the monthly sales data table below, Kia India sold a total of 25,025 utility vehicles in January 2025, an increase of 5% YoY (January 2024: 23,769 units).

For the first 10 months of FY2025, Kia India’s cumulative sales of 204,656 units are up marginally by 0.30% (April 2023-January 2024: 204,034 units).

Built on a reinforced small car platform, Kia’s new compact SUV goes big on interior space. Can that deliver Kia the winning hand?

Positioned above the Sonet and below the Seltos midsize SUV, the five-seater Kia Syros is targeted at families and, according to Kia India, has been designed and engineered following in-depth analysis of local market trends to ensure that it precisely meets the needs of Indian consumers.

The safety package on the Kia Syros includes smart cruise control, front collision warning, and a 360-degree camera system. High on active safety levels, the Kia Syros also bristles with the latest technology. With Kia Connect 2.0, it provides first-in-segment Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, automatically updating 22 controllers to ensure the vehicle is always equipped with the latest software and features. The Syros also gets a best-in-class 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display panel, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats. It also features first-in-segment rear seat recline, slide, and ventilation.

The Kia Syros is sold in four standard trim levels and two option trims – HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, and HTX+, HTX+(O) – paired with manual and automatic transmissions. Kia’s newest SUV for India has two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol which develops maximum power of 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel with 116hp and 250 Nm of torque.
