The Creta Electric, the zero-emission avatar of India’s best-selling midsize SUV, has given new power to Hyundai Motor India’s electric vehicle sales. Revealed on January 2 and then launched on January 17, at an introductory pricae of Rs 18 lakh at the Bharat Mobility Expo, the Hyundai Creta Electric has brought finally brought some heft to the Korean car and SUV manufacturer’s EV programme in India.
February 2025's 738 units are Hyundai's highest monthly EV sales since it entered the Indian EV market in July 2019. The Creta Electric, launched in January, is now the growth driver in its zero-emission product portfolio.
As per Vahan retail sales data, Hyundai Motor India has sold a total of 738 EVs in February 2025, comprising the Creta Electric SUV and the Ioniq 5 crossover. The February 2025 EV numbers are the company’s highest monthly EV sales since it entered the Indian EV market in July 2019 with the Kona SUV. Following tepid sales, the Kona which was brought in as a CKD product and priced at Rs 25.30 lakh at launch, was pulled out of the market five years later, in June 2024.
Hyundai Motor India, which was left only with the futuristic-looking Ioniq 5 crossover, priced at Rs 44.95 lakh and launched in January 2023 in its EV portfolio, is now seeing sales rise dramatically with the much more affordable Creta Electric. While model-wise retail sales splits of the Ioniq 5 and Creta Electric are not available for January and February, suffice it to say that the big jump in the company’s EV retail sales is thanks to the new Creta Electric, which is yet to complete two months in the market since launch.

And that means it bundles the ICE Creta’s strengths of space, practicality and features with a pleasant electric powertrain. Performance is brisk and there’s the promise of over 400km real-world range. Negatives? Ride quality is a touch firm and seating at the back is slightly knees-up.”
