Bajaj Auto’s May sales trend higher
Compared to April 2022, there is a slight improvement in the sales numbers.
Bajaj Auto’s May 2022 domestic two-wheeler sales have come in 59 percent higher at 96,102 vehicles compared to 60,342 two-wheelers sold in May 2021. In comparison to April 2022, when the bikemaker clocked sales of 93,233 units, there is slight improvement in the sales numbers.
Two-wheeler exports have however declined 15 percent to 1,53,397 two-wheelers from 1,80,212 vehicles exported last May. The semiconductor shortage has been affecting the company’s performance adversely over the past few months.
Even on a YTD basis for FY23, the company’s performance is flat at 1,89,335 vehicles sold between April -May 2022 compared to 1,86,912 vehicles sold in April-May 2021. Two-wheeler exports have slipped 15 percent year on year to 3,41,875 vehicles in the period between April-May 2022 from 4,01,815 units exported last April-May.
For the Chakan-based two-wheeler maker, building capabilities in electric is a key priority and will focus on expanding the Chetak electric brand.
