Snazzy TVS NTorq 125, which has successfully ridden the demand curve for 125cc scooters, delivers 47kpl overall and is the eighth most frugal 125cc scooter in India.
The Destini 126, Hero MotoCorp's first product in this segment, delivers 51kpl and is the seventh on this list. It is also the most affordable 125cc scooter in India.
The funky, fun-to-ride Honda Grazia 125, which develops 8.5hp, beats the Hero Destini 125 by a minuscule margin (51.2kpl) to take sixth position.
At No. 5 is the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 with 53kpl. Although it uses the same 124.3cc motor producing 8.7hp from Access 125, its 108kg weight sees its lighter sibling fare better.
At No. 4 is the recently launched BS VI-compliant Honda Activa 125 with 54.2kpl on the fuel efficiency scale, which constitutes combined urban and highway riding.
Yamaha's Ray ZR 125, which is powered by the Yamaha Fascino's engine, is No.3 on this list. The 99kg scooter travels 58 kilometres on a single litre of petrol. It has gone BS VI only recently,
At No. 2 in the frugal and fuel-sipping 125cc scooter stakes is the BS VI Yamaha Fascino, with 58kpl. It is powered by a new 125cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled 8.2hp engine.
By delivering 63 kilometres to the petrol litre, the Suzuki Access is the kpl king of 125cc scooters. The 8.7hp / 10.2Nm, 124cc single-cylinder engine gives it a good balance between power and practicality.
