Switch Mobility, the EV arm of CV major Ashok Leyland is betting big on its growth prospects with a growing order book, which presently stands between 1,500-1,00 e-buses, that are to be supplied over the next 12-18 months.

The Chennai-based EV manufacturer, which has also recently expanded annual capacity to 3,000 e-buses at its plant, is also vying for more orders from the several open tenders for the deployment of e-buses across various states in the country.

The company is also gearing for new product introductions, and according to Mahesh Babu, CEO, Switch Mobility, "We are coming up with a new low-floor, all-electric bus platform that has been indigenously developed for city applications. These buses are our new-generation products that put emphasis on user convenience. We will deliver 950 buses to Delhi and about 300 buses to Karnataka."

"We are also building a new-generation bus with a 350kWh battery pack that would offer a long range of 300km. These two models are set to be introduced in the next few months," Babu reveals.

Switch Mobility is presently getting the homologation of the Switch e1 e-bus for Europe and is set to deliver the first buses to Benidorm city in Spain. "From November onward, we will also be participating in tenders in Europe, where we have a state-of-the-art product ready to foray into the European market," Babu points out in this video.
