The Bharat NCAP could enable India to become a hub for R&D and testing, said Piyush Tewari, Founder & CEO of NGO Save LIFE Foundation.

Further elaborating on the issue at the launch of the BNCAP, he said that it could open possibilities of how India could also end up becoming a hub for testing vehicles for countries with low safety rankings with similar economic conditions, and is hopeful that the BNCAP eventually encompasses buses as well.

“I Hope BNCAP evolves to become Bharat New Vahan system. Hope buses are also involved in crash testing at some point, he said.”

“We have to consider the economic realities of families and people who commute in our cars. This will ensure that safety becomes a key selling point in addition to looks and design that we see being promoted in cases of cars,” he added.

Tewari who started Save Life Foundation to promote road awareness, is hopeful that the Bharat NCAP will lead to culture-specific research, and enable the investment in child safety and overall safety systems.
