Govt waives 252% duty to encourage global car makers to test vehicles in India

Union Minister for Heavy Industries Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey on Sunday inaugurating – “Towards Panchamrit” - Conference & Exposition in Manesar said "Automakers from more countries should avail the testing facilities in India" with government waiving off 252 percent duties for vehicles brought in by international automakers for testing purposes in the country.
Pandey who was speaking at the Summit said Government is giving a major push to clean fuels as it moves towards the "Panchamrit" of 5 clean fuels - Hydrogen, Ethanol, Bio Diesel, Gas, and Electric Vehicles.
He sought the auto industry's support in the government's efforts towards making India a clean and green country.
The event was attended by Automotive Industry leaders, Senior Government Officials from MHI, NITI Aayog, MoRTH, MoP, MoP&NG, Senior academicians, Start-ups, and students. The exposition had displays from over 84 companies which included 33 Component Manufacturers, 11 companies from testing equipment manufacturers, and 36 vehicle manufacturers.
