Bajaj Auto's January domestic sales fall 14 percent
On a month-on-month basis, Bajaj Auto clocked six percent growth.
Bajaj Auto posted sales dropped 14 percent year-on-year at 135,496 vehicles in January 2022 compared to 157,404 units sold in January, 2021.
On a month-on-month basis, the company clocked six percent growth, compared to 127,593 units in December 2021.
It exported 187,934 units in January 2022 compared to 227,532 units in January 2021. The two-wheeler major also saw a 17 percent decline in exports in the previous month.
Poor demand in the entry-level motorcycle market continues to impact Bajaj Auto, as it is other motorcycle manufacturers. Demand from rural India, the biggest buyer of fuel-efficient commuter bikes, is still to pick up and in urban India incomes are down. Adding to the vexing issue of slackened sales is that retail finance companies are a bit more cautious when it comes to disbursing funds for buyers in this segment.
