Skoda Launches Second-Generation Kodiaq in India Starting at ₹46.89 Lakh
Skoda Auto India launches the second-generation Kodiaq, expanding its SUV lineup in India.
Skoda Auto India has officially introduced the second generation of its flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, to the Indian market. The launch coincides with Skoda's dual milestone celebration of 25 years in India and 130 years of global operations.
The new Kodiaq continues Skoda's tradition of blending luxury with sportiness, offering a 7-seater SUV powered by a 2.0 TSI engine that produces 150kW and 320Nm of torque. The vehicle features a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and comes in two trim options - Sportline and the more premium Selection L&K.
Key Features and Specifications
The second-generation Kodiaq is 59mm longer than its predecessor, measuring 4,758mm in length with a height of 1,679mm and width of 1,864mm. With a wheelbase of 2,791mm, the SUV offers significant cargo capacity - 281 liters with all seats up, expanding to a substantial 1,976 liters with both rear rows folded.
Interior highlights include a 32.77-cm infotainment system, multi-function Smart Dials with tactile rotary knobs, Ergo front seats with advanced pneumatic massage function, and a premium 725W Canton sound system with 13 speakers. Safety features include 9 airbags and a panoramic sunroof.
The exterior boasts LED Beam Crystallinium headlamps with a Welcome Effect, an integrated horizontal light strip on the front grille, and a rear red strip connecting the tail lamps. Color options include Moon White, Magic Black, Graphite Grey, Velvet Red, and Race Blue, with exclusive colors for different trim levels.
Skoda in India: A 25-Year Journey
Skoda entered the Indian market in 2001 and has been building its presence steadily over the past two decades. The company currently offers four models in India - the Kylaq (its first sub-4m SUV), Slavia, Kushaq, and now the new Kodiaq. With over 280 customer touchpoints across more than 150 cities, Skoda has established a significant footprint in the country.
The Kodiaq has been part of Skoda's Indian lineup since 2017, when it debuted as a seven-seat luxury 4x4. It forms part of Skoda's naming convention for SUVs, which begin with the letter 'K' and end with 'Q'. The name derives from the Kodiak archipelago in Alaska and the Kodiak bear, symbolizing the beauty and ruggedness that the vehicle aims to embody.
India 2.5 Strategy and Kylaq Connection
The launch of the Kodiaq aligns with Skoda's India 2.5 strategy, which builds on the success of the company's India 2.0 initiative. The strategy involves expanding Skoda's product portfolio in India with the recent introduction of the Kylaq, the brand's first-ever sub-4m SUV designed specifically for the Indian market.
Petr Janeba, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, highlighted that March 2025 saw record monthly sales, driven primarily by the Kylaq launch. The introduction of the all-new Kodiaq complements this offensive strategy by showcasing the luxury end of Skoda's product spectrum.
The new Kodiaq is available for online booking starting today, with deliveries scheduled to begin on May 2. Prices start at ₹46.89 lakh for the Sportline variant and ₹48.69 lakh for the Selection L&K variant (all prices ex-showroom India).
