FedEx and Chennai Super Kings Collaborate on Sustainable Deliveries with Co-Branded EVs in India
This expansion is part of the FedEx global strategy to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
FedEx, the world’s largest express transportation company, has strengthened its commitment to sustainable logistics in India by expanding its electric vehicle (EV) fleet for last-mile deliveries. The company has deployed 13 additional TATA Ace EVs in Mumbai, bringing the total number of EVs operating across major Indian cities, including Delhi and Bengaluru, to 59.
This expansion is part of the FedEx global strategy to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040. The company’s latest initiative not only supports its environmental goals but also integrates brand partnerships to enhance visibility. In a unique move, FedEx has rolled out co-branded EVs in collaboration with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the Indian Premier League’s most celebrated franchises. These vehicles are now operational in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.
“FedEx was the first global delivery company to introduce hybrid-electric vehicles back in 2003, and our journey with battery-powered vehicles began even earlier in 1994,” said Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of Operations, Planning and Engineering for FedEx in India. “Building on this legacy, we’re proud to do our part in reducing emissions and advancing sustainable logistics in India. Our phased, pragmatic approach to fleet electrification ensures we continue to deliver for our customers while minimizing our carbon footprint.”
FedEx’s adoption of EVs reflects a broader shift in consumer expectations. According to a recent FedEx-commissioned study, 90% of Indian consumers prefer to engage with businesses that emphasize sustainable practices. By investing in clean transportation technologies, FedEx is not only reducing carbon emissions and urban air pollution but also responding to growing demand for environmentally conscious logistics solutions.
With EVs emerging as a smart, efficient, and low-emission option for last-mile delivery, FedEx’s fleet expansion represents a strategic move to support India’s evolving supply chain needs while reinforcing its global sustainability objectives.
