CONCOR orders 50 LNG trucks from Blue Energy Motors, expanding green fleet
CONCOR adds 50 more LNG trucks, increasing its fleet to 175 as part of efforts to reduce freight emissions.
Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has placed an order for 50 LNG-powered trucks with Blue Energy Motors, expanding their green transportation fleet to 175 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled to begin by March 2025.
The order marks CONCOR's second procurement of LNG trucks from Blue Energy Motors, following an earlier deployment of 125 vehicles. The LNG trucks reduce carbon emissions by 40% compared to conventional diesel vehicles.
Blue Energy Motors CEO Anirudh Bhuwalka said the partnership strengthens the company's position in LNG trucking while supporting India's decarbonization goals in the freight sector.
The expansion comes as India's logistics industry faces pressure to reduce emissions from heavy-duty vehicles. LNG has emerged as an alternative fuel option for long-haul transportation, offering lower emissions while maintaining performance standards.
CONCOR, a state-owned logistics company, operates a network of inland container depots across India. The adoption of LNG trucks aligns with government initiatives to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector.
The commercial vehicle industry in India has seen increasing interest in alternative fuel technologies, with several manufacturers introducing LNG and electric options. Blue Energy Motors, established as an early entrant in the LNG truck segment, has focused on developing vehicles specifically for Indian operating conditions.
