BMW Group Expands Global Partnership with Axalta for Automotive Refinish Coatings

Axalta, the NYSE-listed global coatings manufacturer, has secured a multi-year agreement with BMW Group to serve as its recommended refinish supplier across more than 50 countries, effective January 2025. The partnership applies to markets where BMW's private paint label, ColorSystem, is not available.

The agreement strengthens Axalta's existing relationship with BMW Group, as the company maintains its position as the exclusive ColorSystem supplier in Europe and South Africa, while extending its ColorSystem supply agreements in the United States and China.

Under the new partnership, Axalta will provide its Fast Cure Low Energy technology paint system to BMW Group's network of dealerships and collision repair shops. The system is designed to reduce carbon equivalent emissions and energy consumption during the application process.

Fabien Boschetti, Sales Vice President for Axalta Refinish in Europe, noted that the company demonstrated compliance with BMW Group's quality, efficiency, and sustainability requirements through multiple tender processes.

Axalta, formerly known as DuPont Performance Coatings until 2013, has maintained a significant presence in the automotive coatings industry for over 150 years. The company provides coating solutions for light and commercial vehicles, serving both original equipment manufacturers and the refinish market.

The global automotive refinish coatings market has seen increased focus on environmentally sustainable products and application processes, with major manufacturers investing in technologies that reduce environmental impact while maintaining performance standards.
