Biswaroop Mukherjee, Head of HR for Tata Motors' USD 7 billion commercial vehicle business unit, has stepped down from his position. His role involved overseeing human resource operations across various functions—ranging from commercial, engineering, and product lines to the company’s operations in India and international subsidiaries. His sudden exit was announced on October 21, which was also announced as his last day in the organisation.
No succession or replacement has been announced nor has any internal communication been released. “Biswaroop Mukherjee, HR Head for Commercial Vehicles at Tata Motors, had voluntarily chosen to move on to pursue other interests,” a Tata Motors spokesperson said.
As per his LinkedIn profile, Mukherjee joined Tata Motors in April 2019 as Senior General Manager, leading talent acquisition, employer branding, and academia relations. This marked his second stint with the automotive giant, having previously served for five years, before departing in 2016, as the Head of HR for the commercial vehicle unit and international subsidiaries.
With over two decades of HR experience, Mukherjee has held key roles at prominent firms such as GE Power, Deloitte, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and ABP News Network. He also touts a breadth of international experience, positioning himself as an executive coach and Hogan assessor with expertise in managing multicultural teams across emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Europe, and Africa.
On his personal website, Mukherjee emphasizes his ability to drive results in both commercial and manufacturing environments, underlining his leadership credentials in global HR strategy.
