Hero MotoCorp rides past 600,000 unit sales in September

Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL) is all set for the festive season starting mid-October. On September 23, it  unveiled its two new 110cc scooters, the Maestro Edge and the Duet. It has also etched another milestone in that it has crossed sales of over 600,000 two-wheelers in a month. Despite the sluggish market in two-wheelers especially motorcycles, the company sold 606,744 two-wheelers this September.

HMCL has earlier crossed the 600,000 sales mark on three occasions – September 2014 (604,052), May 2014 (602,481) and October 2013 (625,420).

At present, Hero holds a consolidated share of 52 percent in the motorcycle market and close to 50 percent share of the 125cc bike segment. It holds a smaller 13 percent share of the scooter market and is planning to further step up this share after the two new scooters are commercially launched on 13 October coinciding with the first day of Navratra.

These scooters have been developed in-house using indigenous technology for the first time and are based on an absolutely new platform. In addition, Hero MotoCorp’s first global manufacturing facility at Villa Rica in Colombia, went on stream early September. Hero MotoCorp is further strengthening its overseas base with new assembly plants overseas.
