Eicher-Polaris JV to more than double dealership count in India
In the next six months, the JV plans to expand the count of dealerships to 150 from the existing sixty.
Eicher Polaris, the 50:50 joint venture between Eicher Motors and Polaris Industries, is learnt to be ramping up its geographic reach in the domestic market. This is to lift the fortunes of the Multix utility vehicle, which was launched in June 2015.
Set up with a combined investment of Rs. 350 crore, the JV has a manufacturing plant with an installed capacity of 60,000 vehicles annually.
In the next six months, the JV plans to take the count of dealerships to 150. Currently, it has 60 dealers. The Multix has found takers mainly in markets like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The enhanced focus on rural economy and developing road network announced in the Union Budget 2017 would augurs well for products like the Multix that are aimed for semi-urban/rural markets.
