Demand surges for Tata Tiago as bookings cross 100,000 milestone
Tata Motors' game-changing hatchback sees further uptick in demand with AMT version being introduced.
Tata Motors has announced that bookings for its Tiago hatchback, officially launched in April 2016, have crossed the 100,000 mark. Since February 2016 till end-May 2017, the Tiago has sold a total of 66,235 units in the domestic market, comprising 54,476 petrol variants and 11,759 diesel.
The Tiago has helped bring momentum back into Tata’s passenger vehicle sales. The Tiago has given a new fillip to overall sales; the company has increased its passenger car market share to 5.88 percent in April-May 2017 from 5.88 percent a year earlier. With the recently introduced AMT in its top-end variant, the company is optimistic on demand growing for its compact hatchback.
Commenting on the milestone, Mayank Pareek, president, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “The Tiago boasts our new Impact design philosophy and has been a game- changer for Tata Motors. We have witnessed a healthy month-on-month growth on the back of a strong demand.”
The Tiago is manufactured at the Tata Motors’ Sanand, Gujarat plant, which the company says is running at full steam to meet demand.
